"Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness

and all these things will be given you besides." (Mat 6:33)

 About Us

We are a new community, established October 2nd, 2006 in the Diocese of Peoria, Illinois, on the Feast of the Guardian Angels. Previously, we were members of another religious congregation. Fervently seeking the Kingdom of God, we were inspired to start a new community, The Franciscan Sisters of John the Baptist. God, in His love, inspired us to choose the lifestyle of John the Baptist, which is a life of total trust in Him.

The establishment of our community was the result of an intensive process of renewal in striving to live authentic religious life in our previous community. Through this renewal God revealed to us the plan He had for us from of old. He wanted us to prove our love for Him and He called us again to leave everything for Him. For those of us who responded, it meant to leave the security of the well established life in a congregation of pontifical right and to start a new community from the very beginning. We have never regretted that we followed this call. Our new life is a wonderful challenge that we are so grateful for.

We are a contemplative-active community faithful to the Holy Father and to the Magisterium of the Church, and we live a joyful and strong community life rooted in the Eucharist and a solid prayer life. As a sign of consecration, we wear a religious habit.
